God is Taking the Lid Off of Your Dreams

For several months the Lord has been speaking to me about dreams. Over and over He has highlighted to me scriptures and words concerning dreams.  Just recently in my time with Him, I heard Him say, "Make your wish list".  So, I sat down with pen and paper and began to write my "wish list" or dreams that were in my heart. As I did this exercise, I quickly began to have all kinds of emotions knocking at the door of my heart. The disappointment of past seasons where dreams did not come to fruition, and the fear of failure were just two of many emotions that surfaced as I wrote out my list.

 

But, I am hearing the Lord saying that we have entered a NEW SEASON! It's a BRAND NEW DAY!  And, because it is a brand new day, it is extremely important that we bring our thinking and expectation into alignment with what He is saying no matter what our past experience has been. Our thinking and expectations will greatly influence what we see and hear. They will also great influence what we experience. I hear the Spirit of God saying "Raise your expectations!  Lift up your eyes to see the new!"

 

Ephesians 3:20 - "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."

 

Our God is a God of unlimited possibilities!  He is taking the lid off of your dreams, my friends. We often have difficulty getting our minds wrapped around just how powerful our God is. He is inviting us into a new season of trusting and experiencing His power to do the impossible. He is inviting us to once again dream with Him. 

 

Isaiah 35 gives us so many examples of God doing the impossible. Here are just a few:

 

-The Desert and parched land became glad

-The wilderness rejoiced and blossomed

-Eyes of the blind opened

-Ears of the deaf unstopped

-Lame leapt like a deer

-Mute tongues shout for joy

-Wilderness water gushed forth

-Burning sand becomes a pool

-Thirsty ground becomes bubbling springs

 

God is turning the negatives of our lives into positives. He can take ashes and turn them into something beautiful. How much more then is He able to breathe life into the dreams of our hearts!

 

The dreams of your heart may feel a lot like Ezekiel's valley of dry bones, completely dry and dead with no signs of life. God may be speaking to you right now, asking the question, "Can these dreams live?"  As we put our trust in Him, He will give us His strategies to cause our dreams to come alive as surely as He did with Ezekiel's valley of dry bones. 

 

Many have been in seasons of captivity of some sort. You may have been held captive in an unhealthy relationship, or held captive in an unfullfilling job. Others have experienced captivity through addictions, abuse or other difficult things. Whatever your captivity looked like, it can cause you to stop dreaming. Captives or slaves don't dream. Free people dream, and praise His name, the blood of Jesus has set us free!  

 

If you have been in captivity, you may have felt like the Israelites in Psalm 137 who hung their harps on the poplar trees. ("By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. There on the poplars we hung our harps, for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, 'Sing us one of the songs of Zion!' " Ps. 137:1-3)  When they hung their harps on the trees, they stopped doing the very things that brought them life. The flow of creativity that brought about the beautiful music stopped flowing because it had been stolen through captivity.

 

I've heard it said that cows that have an electric fence surrounding their pasture will quickly learn not to touch or get near the fence. I've also heard that if the fence is removed it may be quite some time before a cow would venture to cross the line where the fence once stood. The pain of the past caused them to stop seeing the possibilities of the present. Captivity does that to us as well. We quit dreaming and we become confined to our own pre-conceived limitations. We stop believing that we can step outside the lines and so, like the Israelites, we hang our harps in the poplar trees.  We give up on doing the things that cause our hearts to come alive.

 

But, the Lord is saying, "It's time to pick up your harps again!  It's time to dream with Me and do the things that bring life to your heart once again. Dare to dream again, and dare to trust Me to blow fresh wind on your dreams. It's a new season and a brand new day! I am uncapping the wells of your dreams and taking the lid off. Come, step into the realm of impossibilities becoming possibilities, with Me."

 

"When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, 'The LORD has done great things for them.'" Psalm 126:1-2

 

 

Defeat is Not your destiny
