Recently during a time of worship I saw a series of several pictures. Though each picture is unique, combined, they reveal an intriguing message and invitation into more.
The first picture I saw was Lazarus emerging from his tomb with his grave clothes still clinging to his body. Though he was very much alive, he still wore the garments of death. I heard the Lord say, "Shake off the grave clothes of the former season. Don't try to move forward while you are still wearing those garments of death as I am making ALL things new."
"When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, 'Lazarus come out!' The dead man came out his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, 'Take off the grave clothes and let him go.' " John 11:43-44
Then, I saw a picture of a dog shaking off the water from it's fur after a bath. Like the dog shaking off his bathwater, our 'shaking off' of the old season is to be just as determined and intentional. As we relinquish the old, we are then more able to fully embrace the new and believe that God is faithful to release to us everything we need to navigate this new era.
The next in the sequence of pictures was that of a clock with the hands spinning clockwise very quickly. I knew that this represented the acceleration of time and movement in the Kingdom that is now occurring and will continue to occur as we continue to advance into this new era.
"...Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won't be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once--and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills"... Amos 9:13 MSG
Then after the clock appeared I saw the word "slipstream". I had a vague idea of what the word meant, but looked it up for the full definition and found this in the Cambridge Dictionary:
Slipstream - "a current of air behind a quickly moving object such as a car traveling extremely fast..."
As I sought the Lord on what He was saying I heard His invitation to step into His slipstream. He is moving forward and advancing quickly now as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. He is breaking open the way before us and summoning us, His sons and daughters, to step into the grace of His slipstream. This place of grace is the key to navigating this new era without fear or anxiety. God is releasing a childlike grace and ease that is available through faith as we come into alignment with what He is doing. We step into His slipstream by faith and a tenacious obedience to stay close to His heart as things quickly advance.
The last picture came as I was meditating on this message. I saw a scene from the movie "Aladdin" where Aladdin extended his hand to Jasmine encouraging her to step on the magic carpet. As he extended his hand to her, he said "Do you trust me?"
I feel God is extending His hand to us right now and inviting us to trust Him as we step into His slipstream of grace and acceleration. He is longing to open up to us His whole new world of unending possibilities as we run with Him.
For this new era our strength will be found in our ability to simply abide and place our trust in Him. In this past decade, He has released over and over the fresh revelation that He is a good Father. This revelation is the principle foundation of our trust for the unknown journey that lies ahead.
It's time to shake off any lingering or cumbersome grave clothes from the former season and resolutely step into our good and faithful Father's slipstream of grace and acceleration. He has a place of childlike wonder and trust for those who will place their hand in His for the journey ahead. It's going to be an exciting and wonderful wild ride!
