A Time of New Beginnings

Recently my husband and I were spending some vacation time in the mountains of Colorado. We were traveling in our car and received a text message from a friend giving us a new password that we needed. The password was “new beginnings”. Later that evening we were attending a minister’s conference and the speaker talked about Jacob and how the theme of his life could be called “new beginnings”. My husband and I looked at each other with that “I wonder” look. That same evening, after the conference, we were making the drive back to our cabin and I happened to glance up at a church sign located off the road. We had passed the same spot a half a dozen times, but I had never noticed it. You guessed it. The church was called “New Beginnings”.

As I meditated on this unusual set of circumstances, I felt the Lord was saying that we are entering a time where many will be given the opportunity for new beginnings. God has always been about new beginnings and a read through scripture will show that this is something He loves to do in the lives of people. But, sometimes there comes a time and season where there is a special grace for something, and I believe this is the season we are entering into now.

Along this same line, I had another experience recently that would point to a similar thing. We have a fountain on our back porch and I have an extension cord plugged into it. One day I went out to plug in the fountain, and it would not work. I remembered that there was a “reset button” for the plug located in our garage, so I ran in and pushed the button. Then I ran back out to the porch only to find that it still had not started. Repeat this scenario three times, and this was how many times I ran back and forth hitting the reset button. Sometimes the Lord has to repeat things to get our attention, and this was one of those times. On the way back to the porch after the third time, I felt I heard Him say, “I’m hitting the reset button”. This time the fountain worked!

Many people have been stuck in cycles that feel like they are going around the same mountain over and over. Many have felt that they are somehow doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past, or continue paying for sins they committed years ago. Others have waited and waited, standing on God’s promises and wondering if they will ever see the promises fulfilled. And still others have been in a season of intense warfare wondering if there will ever be an end to the torrent of the enemy’s assault.

I believe God is saying a resounding “YES!” It is a season of brand new beginnings. I can almost feel the excitement of Heaven as God rolls out this new season for His people. As our Savior and Deliverer hits the heavenly reset button, everything shifts and changes. New doors will unexpectedly open, sometimes where we least expect it.

This reset button is all about a season of God’s grace and a time where God puts on display His redemptive nature in unprecedented ways.

I’ve also been hearing Isa. 43: 18 & 19 that says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

To fully step into this new season and access all that God has for us, we need to forget the former things and stop dwelling on the past. Our minds need to be renewed to embrace the new thing He is doing. Instead of assuming that life will go on a usual, we need to be looking, watching, and waiting for Him to move. As we position ourselves in this way we will perceive when He shows up.

God is about to make a way in your wilderness and streams in your wasteland. Get ready for new beginnings as He hits the reset button!
